Stake Conference was held on Sunday October 20, 2024. El Cajon Stake had two visiting General Authorities; Elder Peter C. Johnson and Elder David C. Clark from the Quorum of the Seventy.  Along with the Stake Presidency, they presided over a Youth Fireside in the morning, the General Session and a Leadership training in the afternoon.

The General Session had a beautiful choir consisting of Primary children conducted by Tanya Reas.  The meeting had translation services for Spanish, Swahili and Haitian Kreyol.

Here are some notes from some of the talks.

President Erickson

Are there things sitting right in front of us of eternal significance that we are not seeing?  As we re-dedicate our lives to Jesus Christ, let us prayerfully consider what prevents us from drawing nearer to the Saviour.  Three things that will help focus your life on the Saviour.

  1. Make the temple central to our worship

  2. Love others and be unified

  3. Increase joy in Sabbath Day worship. The sacrament should be a joyful experience.

Elder Kearon has said that “God is in relentless pursuit of you.  He wants all of HIs children to choose to return to Him and HE employs every possible measure to bring you back.”  Are we returning the favor?  Are we in relentless pursuit of Him?

Elder Clark

God the father and Jesus Christ are in the details of the restoration.  They appeared to Joseph Smith.  They also sent heavenly messengers to Joseph Smith who provided the keys to the priesthood. We received ordinances and covenants through temple work  We can be exalted as families.  We are still in the process of restoration through Latter Day prophets.

Elder Johnson

In an overwhelming and exhausting world, How can we overcome and find peace?

  1. Know and learn of Jesus,  In Him we find rest.

  2. Live and understand the doctrine of Christ.  Through our covenant connection of repentance, ordinances and covenants, we get closer to Jesus Christ.

  3. Do what He would do.  Specifically, ministering to the one to the house of the Lord.
